ディプロマット設立について

株式会社ディプロマットは、1984年11月に設立されました。法律では、男女同権とされていましたが、現実には女性は結婚すると主婦として家にとどまることが当たり前とされていました。私は、旧家に生まれましたが、自由に育てられました。戦後は、母もリーダーズ•ダイジェストで働いたこともあり、 結婚した女性が働くのは当たり前だったのです。また、女性が自立するためには、経済力が必要だったことも事実でした。英語教育を受けている人も少なくないので、通訳の技を身につけ、仕事ができる場を提供し、結婚と仕事が両立する職場を提供したのです。

Diplomatt Inc. was established in November 1984, some 33 years ago. At that time Japanese law gave women equal rights with men. In reality however, women were expected to stay home as housewives once they were married. If they worked they were paid 30 per cent or more less than men for the same work. I was brought up in an old family but under liberal parents. Japanese women are educated, and many hold university degrees. So it was natural for me to help women who wanted to both have a family and work.
